Yeah, that will definitely also cause this problem, which is why I asked a
few questions about the compiler, but that looked okay.

(Incidentally, on Debian, make-kpkg or module-assistant is supposed to
handle setting the compiler for you so that you don't have to do this.
The only reason why it doesn't is Bug#338306, which I'm hoping to get a
chance to fix todayish.)
