Yes, -showsuid also implies -nowrite.
In general, you can always use -nowrite to run the salvager in a read-only 
mode where it will only tell you what it would do, rather than actually 
doing anything.  This eliminates any need to shut down the fileserver; 
however, you only get that benefit if you run the salvager by hand - the 
'bos salvage' command only knows how to handle a limited number of salvager 
arguments.

Remember that if you run the salvager by hand and do not use one of 
-nowrite, -showmounts, or -showsuid, you must shut down the fileserver 
first.  Otherwise you risk damaging volumes.
