Basically I need to wait for this feature, help develop it or, swap to solaris ?
Its not a major problem for me, but a nice to have feature for those people that cant run AFS at our place.

As the error says, this AFS client (openafs-1.4.2-1.1 on Linux) does not support the nfs-exporter.

In 1.4., the nfs exporter is only supported on Solaris.
The development branch of OpenAFS (1.5.x) has an nfs-exporter for Linux but it needs testing and there are very likely bugs that need to be fixed.
