[OpenAFS] OpenAFS in a static kernel build

Has anyone built OpenAFS statically into a Linux kernel with a recent code
base?
Does anyone have a feel for how hard this would be?
For background, the Debian project is talking about using AFS as a way of
transferring files between project systems, but the DSA-run systems use
completely static kernels as part of a defense-in-depth security policy.
(It doesn't prevent attacks, but it will slow down a lot of them.)
