[OpenAFS] OpenAFS with Samba volume move confusion?

Hello,
I have a head-scratcher of a problem. In the past, we've been able to
move volumes from one OpenAFS server to another without disturbing users.
Most of our users access OpenAFS through Samba on gateway servers, using
Kerberos 5 to authenticate.
I decided to upgrade our servers from 1.4.4 to 1.4.7 this week, so I was
going to do rolling upgrades, that is, moving volumes from one server to
another, upgrade the server, then move them back and so on. This time, we
find that Samba claims to not be able to see the volume.
If the user deliberately selects another samba gateway, it'll work fine.
If the samba server on the gateway is restarted, it'll cure the problem as
well.
So it sounds like Samba is getting confused as the volume moves. Anyone
know why that might be, and what might cure it? This problem would really
negate most of the reasons we chose OpenAFS as an underlying filesystem,
if we can't just move volumes around as needed.
Thanks for any advice!
Chris
