Yup. I use faubackup and rsync stitched together with one of my own scripts.

What, "period", or just at the moment? I'm hoping the latter.

Yes, I saw that on the road map. So, then all we have to do is wait a  
few years, after which disk-based backups on AFS volumes will become  
possible, correct?
