For my site the only needed procedure was to not mix 1.4 and 1.6 DB
servers.
Else did went fine.
But the salvager on 1.6 did got some attention and does work IMHO
better than 1.4 one.
Usual it is wise to run it once a year or more often...
We do run it every 3 month and it always find some minor issues,
nothing which removes or deletes any actual data, but some backup
volumes, old RO volumes,...
