depot library (032) $Revision: 5.50 $ Compiled on: Wed Mar 24 12:04:03
EST 2004

We also use depot to manage a farm of links in AFS, not on the local
machine. We use depot to manage software that uses an installer, instead
of a package (RPM).

I ran a quick sum of the used space for all of volumes that are linked
from /opt/coe/bin, and the total comes to 988GB. We don't have enough
space on most of the workstation hard drives for that much software. on
top of that, we would lose the convenience of AFS ACL's, which are used
for some restricted-access programs.
