[OpenAFS-port-darwin] Private Kerberos functions in PAM modules

I've been playing with the Heimdal krb5 pam code on OSX.2 and it 
somehow wants access to some private kerberos 5 functions like 
krb5_init_ets().  Defining KRB5_PRIVATE doesn't seem to make the 
unresolved references go away (though it does for a small test 
program).

I seem to recall that someone else ran into this problem, perhaps 
porting the AFS pam?  I can't find the reference.  I'm not even sure 
what mailing list I saw it on.  Does this ring any bells for anyone?
