OpenAFS 1.7.20 is the next a series of OpenAFS clients for the Microsoft
Windows platform that is implemented as a native file system.
Significant changes since 1.7.17:
* Fixes critical kernel memory corruption bugs that can lead
to BSOD events
* Prevents race conditions which decreased read and write
performance in some environments
* Symlink file information responses match NTFS Symlink behavior
* Improved compatibility with Mozilla Firefox and Adobe Acrobat
* Protection against broken file servers which can report invalid
File Status information. All file servers older than 1.6.1
can transmit invalid File Status information.
* 32-bit builds no longer have a Kerberos v4 dependency.
* Fix an afsd_service panic condition introduced in 1.7.18 during
file cleanup.
* Fix a critical error in the AFS Authentication Provider which
causes XP, XP64, and Server 2003 systems to BSOD during logon
if a Kerberos 5 implementation is not installed. Affected
versions of OpenAFS are 1.7.16 to 1.7.19.
1.7.20 is the recommended release of OpenAFS for Microsoft Windows
users. It supports Microsoft Windows client operating systems from
Windows XP SP3 through Windows 8 and Windows Server operating
systems from 2003 SP2 through 2012. The 1.7.20 Windows client is
fully compatible with all AFS server versions.
For UNIX, Linux, and MacOS X the recommended production-ready release of
OpenAFS is 1.6.1.
