Yes, you should be able to dynamically load AFS on this platform and
architecture. Even in cases where AFS cannot be loaded dynamically on
IRIX, the task of linking it into the kernel is fairly painless.

Binary releases of OpenAFS are available from
http://www.openafs.org/release/latest.html
The latest release is currently 1.2.1, and a binary distribution for
Irix 6.5 is available.
