Nope, seems be deeper than that:

[root@sysdev103 tmp]# fs sysname -newsys i386_linux26 -newsys i386_blah
fs: new sysname list set.
[root@sysdev103 tmp]# fs sysname
Current sysname is 'i386_linux26'
