I actually built mine on Solaris 10 with Studio 11.. I set my sysname to 
sun4x_510 as the system boots - mostly because I didn't feel like creating all 
of the @sys volumes and links until 11 is GA..

I have not tested afs extensively, but I have not encountered any issues under 
casual use with snv_56..
