[OpenAFS] Strange Behavior of Openafs-1.1.1

Are you using a kernel.org kernel or a Mandrake kernel?  IIRC there
was a problem with the Mandrake kernels where they include some
patches that aren't supported by AFS.  Try using a kernel from
kernel.org and rebuild your kernel module.
