None of the post 1.0.4 changes should have changed anything to do with
volume releases (which I assume is what you mean by synchronization)

That said, I forgot to mention andrew.cmu.edu also has 2 OpenAFS
fileservers mixed in with the AFS 3.5 fileservers; The volserver on the
3.5 machines has been sporadically unreliable and so even if we have
volserver problems with OpenAFS (and there are none yet) we will be no
worse off.
