[OpenAFS] SMP problem on RH 7.1

Hi,

I have recently upgrade a few of my NO-SMP machines from RH 7.0 to RH7.1,
this upgrade broke the afs 3.6 from Transarc, but openafs 1.0.4 appears to
work on these system.

But the same path for a SMP system fails miserably.
after I start

/etc/init.d/afs start

the startup script hangs there, if I try to access anything under /afs.
The system hangs. (I am using RH7.1 kernel 2.4.2)

I have tried 1.0.4-24.1 and 1.0.4-24.2.  For 1.0.4-24.2 precompiled kernel 
rpms,  I can not load the kernel modules at all as there are mant unresolved 
symbols and I have to recompile the kernel module myself.

Does anybody have similar problem with SMP?  Maybe I have to recompile the
whole thing?  Thanks for your help
