[OpenAFS] is the pam.d/login change 100% necessary?

I'm setting up afs on several servers that will really only need to speak to
each other, and the afs volume will simply be a common repository on each
machine. The afs volumes themselves will not be accessed by individual
users, only by processes which are already running as root.
Can I skip the pamd.d/login information? It seems like it is only used if
individual users are logging in to the system and require afs volume
access....
