Right; I believe some of the things I poked were in rx/rx_globals.h.

You probably need to make modifications to the server-side rx library
(ie what volserver is linked against) rather than the client. Also, it
might be the case that making some of these changes to RX will make it
incompatible in some ways with existing RX clients.  So, probably more
trouble than it's worth, at this point.
