We started using the AFS Web Security Pack about a year ago. It has proved
to be a very convenient way of serving data via the web with access
permissions, group membership, etc., mirroring those for AFS file access.

Recently IBM has dropped support of it stating that

(a) there's "no replacement product available" and

(b) "because of other security methods, this product became obsolete".

So what's the status of the Web Security Pack in openafs/src/afsweb? I
don't see a lot of discussion about it.

* Do many people use it?

* Maybe people aren't aware of its existence, since it's not part of the
  binary distribution.

* Are there better ways of accomplishing fine-grained control of access to
  AFS data via the web?

Thanks.
