The file I was trying to copy was the size of a CD, 640MB I suppose.

Oh, you should DEFINITELY be sending this to openafs-info or
openafs-devel (@openafs.org).  I don't know why you decided to send
this directly to me.

How big is this file that you're trying to copy?
