[OpenAFS] Debugging apps linked with openafs libs

Has anyone had any success in debugging apps that have
been linked with the openAFS libs?  I've got setuid
C program linked to openAFS.  When I run the debugger
as root, set breakpoints(I can see the code), and
then start the program I get the following error
message:

procfs: unconditionally_kill, proc_kill line 4454,
/proc/11164: Resource temporarily unavailable.

If I run it a second time it runs but I cannot do
any debugging.
