The restored volume is restored as a read-write volume.

From the IBM AFS Admin guide, I read the backup process should only write volumes labeled *.backup (created by vos backupsys) to tape. Now, while starting to dive into the restore process, the guide states the volumes to be restored will be the same as the ones listed in a 'volset'. My question is, can a read-write volume be created from a .backup volume or should I back up read write volumes as well as .backup volumes? (which is kind of redundant, no?)
