[OpenAFS] -dynroot - what does it really do?

Hi,

I have added the -dynroot option to my AFS OPTIONS
to enable a client to boot even if the server is
currently down.
This works fine.
But when the server is up and running (even before
the client is booted) the client does not contact
the server. If I remove this options it works fine
iff the server is running.

How does -dynroot work really?

Thanks for a hint,
