[OpenAFS] Installing OpenAFS on RHEL

For transarc-paths & SuSE:

Clean out startups:

Rm  /etc/init.d/afs-client
Rm /etc/init.d/afs-server 
Rm /etc/sysconfig/afs-client

Rm -rf /usr/vice/*  #clean out cache
Rm -rf /usr/afs/*   #clean out server

That should blow everything away - one reason NOT to put executables in
"system standard locations"...

Leave /afs as is

You might clean out the rpm database or force the rpm install but if you're
using sources why not specify the directories and ./configure --blah
;make;make install?

Hello,

I am trying to install an OpenAFS server on RedHat Enterprise Linux.

For some reason the process of setting it up breaks.

I wanted to try to uninstall all rpm's (working with the src rpm) but for
some
reason that doesn't work.

[1] : is there a way to completely remove all the AFS stuff, so that I can
reinstall everything again to give it another shot ?

[2] : the problem that occurs is :
[root@neptune X11]# bos create  neptune kaserver simple
/usr/afs/bin/kaserver

and it looks that is not good.  further  in the process when I try to create
an
admin etc, it is really clear it broke.

any suggestions ?
