yes I did. Not all rpm's didn't get removed that way. One error that occured
was saying "some script" didn't work.

I tried what was suggested earlier, and that seemed to work.
I could install the src rpm, build it. but when I started installing the
created rpm's "it" said they were already installed.

I have RHEL v3 and used the latest source rpm.

this is what I am trying to do :

downloaded : openafs-1.2.11-rhel3.0.1.src.rpm

then rpmbuild -ba the file in the SPECS directory

then :

rpm -i openafs-1.2.11-rhel3.0.1.i386.rpm
rpm -i openafs-kernel-1.2.11-rhel3.0.1.i386.rpm
rpm -i openafs-server-1.2.11-rhel3.0.1.i386.rpm

after that I start the bosserver
create a cellname
then when I start creating entries for the database servers ...things start to
break  and things like :

>> [root@neptune X11]# bos create  neptune kaserver simple /usr/afs/bin/kaserver
>> -cell -noauth
>> free(): invalid pointer 0xb72aa010!

>> free(): invalid pointer 0xb70c0010!
>> free(): invalid pointer 0xb708f010!
>> bos: failed to create new server instance kaserver of type 'simple' (entity
>> already exists)

start to happen.
