Hi, the following @sys problem occurs on RedHat 9 and RHEL 3 systems
under OpenAFS 1.2.10. It is not clear to us whether this is a
RedHat problem or an OpenAFS issue, so I thought I would post to
the list see what you think...
If there is a subdirectory i386_linux24 in AFS space, both RH9 and
RHEL3 systems get confused if you try to cd @sys. An ls @sys works
fine, and if the @sys subdirectory is a link you can cd to it with
no problem. The following was done on a RHEL 3 machine named noric04
running OpenAFS 1.2.10. First an attempt to cd @sys where @sys is
not a link:
renata@noric04 $ 9:21 fs sysname
Current sysname list is 'i386_rhel30' 'i386_linux24'
renata@noric04 $ 9:21 cd /afs/slac/package/mozilla/1.4/1.4
renata@noric04 $ 9:21
renata@noric04 $ 9:21 ls
i386_linux24/ sun4x_58/ sun4x_59@
renata@noric04 $ 9:22 ls i386_linux24
mozilla/
renata@noric04 $ 9:22 ls @sys
mozilla/
renata@noric04 $ 9:23 cd @sys
renata@noric04 $ 9:23 pwd
pwd: cannot get current directory: No such file or directory
renata@noric04 $ 9:23
renata@noric04 $ 9:23 ls
ls: .: Stale NFS file handle
renata@noric04 $ 9:24
renata@noric04 $ 9:23 cd ../i386_linux24
renata@noric04 $ 9:23 pwd
/afs/slac.stanford.edu/package/mozilla/1.4/1.4/i386_linux24
However, if i386_linux24 is a symlink, it won't be a problem
renata@noric04 $ 9:25 cd /afs/slac/package/globustools
renata@noric04 $ 9:25
renata@noric04 $ 9:25 ls
README.SLAC arch1/ build/ i386_linux24@ sun4x_57@ sun4x_59@
README.SLAC~ arch2/ i386_linux22@ src/ sun4x_58@ vdt/
renata@noric04 $ 9:25
renata@noric04 $ 9:25 ls -lad i386_linux24
lrwxr-xr-x 1 bbense root 7 Oct 7 2002 i386_linux24 -> ./arch1/
renata@noric04 $ 9:26
renata@noric04 $ 9:27 cd @sys
renata@noric04 $ 9:27
renata@noric04 $ 9:27 pwd
/afs/slac.stanford.edu/package/globustools/arch1
renata@noric04 $ 9:27
renata@noric04 $ 9:27 ls
GLOBUS_LICENSE etc/ lib/ man/ setup/ tmp/
bin/ include/ libexec/ sbin/ share/ var/
RedHat 7.2 systems don't have this problem.
Thanks,
Renata
