Just read the archive and see how many times Derek gives highly valuable
hints and solutions for all kind of problems. Then think if introducing
oneself to a new community by offending people is a wise idea.

And an openafs beginner does not stumble across this problem, because he
follows the documentation which says:
"Note: In the following and every instruction in this guide, for the
machine name argument substitute the fully-qualified hostname (such as
fs1.abc.com) of the machine you are installing. For the cell name
argument substitute your cell's complete name (such as abc.com)."

The kernel doesn't know whether you got into the system using
a kerberized rsh, ssh, telnet, or by a buffer-overflow.
