[OpenAFS] RE: eliminating SuSE kernel rebuilds

Yes I did e-mail nadvornik@suse.cz who is the afs person. No response.

Unfortunately SuSe does not support openafs all that well (tried this
before) and I suspect that since Novell acquired SuSe the support will be
worse.

We're already having to cope with Novell's SuSe snailsite at 88b/s. (Its not
dial up either)....
Below is the non-responsive e-mail sent to the openafs person
(vnadvornik@suse.cz). I've also submitted a bug report.

Vladimir,

Any chance the current openafs v. 1.3.81 libafs can be included in the
standard kernel releases even as a patch?

I have 1.3.81 running on 3 9.2 boxes but had to rebuild the kernel and turn
CONFIG_AUDITSYSCALL off in .config.

Assuming you're referring to the audit_putname problem, the problem you had
wasn't our bug. Get the vendor to fix their kernel.

Not all modules are GPL. Referring to GPLONLY symbols from non-GPLONLY code
is broken, and isn't supposed to happen.

Only if none of their customers reports the issue and asks them to fix it.
Have you?
