Hi,
I've been using OpenAFS file servers under VMWare 6.5 for about a year and =
a half with no problems.
I'm using OpenAFS 1.7.21.1 on Centos 6.9 with the kmod package. My vice pa=
rtition is just a regular vmware vmdk file as sdb mounted as vicepa. I've =
templated a base file server so I can have a new fileserver up and running =
in a couple of minutes. I've vmotioned fileservers around with no problems=
. It's been really stable for me.

Subject: [OpenAFS] Vhosts as AFS servers?
The AFS support group (of whom I'm a former member) is considering moving t=
o virtual hosts under vmware for their next generation of servers. So far t=
hey're looking at attempting to have the vhosts attach the vice partitions =
directly from our SAN rather than having storage mediated through vmware. I=
f you're using or used virtualized servers, we'd love to hear how their wor=
king out for you.
At the moment, the servers are running OpenAFS 1.6.17. I don't know if they=
're considering upgrading to 1.8.X as part of this or not.
Advance thanks,
Steve Simmons
