Ok, I'm just pointing this one out either ... ;-)
but AFS in this case _is_ the system.

How do you distinguish between a driver and the system when in kernel 
space ?? (in Windows the blue screen, in Linux the Kernel Panic, in Mac 
OS X the grey screen :-) they are just telling the same: your system 
crashed ... no matter what module caused it)

I know very few OSes which are capable of what you're requesting. None 
of those above among them.
